Health Insurance Assistance (CIAPAP)

What is it:

CT Insurance Assistance Program for AIDS Patients This insurance program pays the COBRA premium of extended employer health insurance to people who leave their jobs because of AIDS. Insurance can be extended for up to 18 months, with an additional 11 months available if your apply for Social Security disability benefits.

Who can apply:

Your employer is required to tell you in writing that you can continue your coverage. You have 60 days after getting the notice to decide to keep your insurance. You must have been receiving health insurance through your job. Your employer must have at least 20 employees. If your employer has less than 20 employees, you must apply within 30 days of the date that your insurance ends. You cannot have been fired for misconduct.
