MFAP annual budget of $500,000 is composed of funding from several different sources.
A federally funded response to the Emergency needs of people living with HIV/AIDS in 51 Emergency Metropolitan Areas. This funding stream supports services and programs including: Case Management, Emergency Financial Assistance, Nutritional Counseling, Alternative Therapies, Transportation Voucher, Food Pantry, Food Voucher, Treatment Adherence and Support Groups.
Federal housing grants that fund MFAP’s Independent Living Program. The ILP provides Rental Subsidy for people living with HIV/AIDS as well as Support Services such as Case Management for those individuals in the program.
This funding from the State Department of Health finances a Prevention Case Manager, Drug Treatment Advocacy, and Education and Community Intervention programs. Through these services at-risk individuals are identified and counseled on their behavior. Additionally educational and community awareness workshops are conducted.
Events held by MFAP to cover administrative expenses as well as direct client services like Emergency Financial Assistance, that are not covered under other restricted funding sources. (e.g. funeral costs, car repairs, unexpected emergency expenses). Annual fundraising events include: Comedy Jam, Annual Giving Campaign, AIDS Expo, and our recent success Gay Bingo.
